Armor is considered to be a crucial part in the Lord of the Ring Online: Shadows of Angmar which has been highly anticipated to challenge WoW (Burning Crusade expansion) for this year's best massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Armor is generally deemed as enormously vital for players of many games, especially in the ones revolved around fighting, adventuring, questing and exploring the vast lands of the world. Choosing an armor is also important as a good armor will likely keep you on the leading edge, helping you reduce massive amounts of damage taken in combat as well.
Of course, a set of impressive armor will be available for all the LOTRO players to use for protection during their adventure in Middle-earth. A selection of armor consisting of cloth, leather, plate, mail and shield will become available for players to choose from once the game is launched on 24 April, 2007. These are two of several major styles of armor found in LOTRO, as worn by a Man of Eriador like Common armor of the Third Ages which is medium-weight, made of leather and heavy, reinforced chain armor with additional plate protection made by the Dwarf class.
However, armor in LOTRO takes skills to equip effectively, and only some classes will have the proper skills for certain armor-types. These types reflect the common armor available to players in Middle-earth. Nonetheless, the bravest and luckiest of adventurers may find or earn rarer, stronger and more powerful armor. Additionally, LORT Online has also placed a greater emphasis on the availability of armor as it offers special features called “Armour Proficiencies” to its player.
In this game, players of all races and classes will also be given a chance to choose these “Armour Proficiencies” which allow them to make a full use of the five armor including Light Armor (allowing the use of Light Armor), Medium Armour (allowing the use of Medium Armor), Heavy Armour (allowing the use of Heavy Armor), Shields (allowing the use of Shields) and Heavy Shields (allowing the use of Heavy Shields).
This pretty much sums it up in regards to the basics. If you want to find out more, head over to Killer Guides and take a look at the LotRO guide they provide. It's a very compact and detailed reference that provides great leveling advice and several new gold-making strategies.
