PvP (short for Player versus Player combat) is a hugely popular form of exciting and hard-fought battle preferred by many MMO players who wish to put all their fighting skills to the test against other players in the game. In The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar that could potentially give World of Warcraft some hot contest once its much-anticipated release, the PvP (Player versus Player combat) system in an MMORPG is based on a consent-only basis.
In LotRO, there will be servers available for players who like to have a PvP style of combat and also the ones who have a personal preference not have to worry about player versus player combat called player versus environment (PvE). Like the hugely successful WoW in many great ways, thousands of players from around the world will be able to challenge others in battle on the Lord of the Rings Online PvP servers. And the very good point is that you will not be penalized for losing to your opponents and nor do you earn any experience (XP) from wining the combat as well.
All in all, the primary objective of PvP combat is to show you how skillful you really are with your player character when fighting against your opponent characters. With the popularity of the two-year-old World of Warcraft continually looming over the world, Turbine develops LotRO to be able to enter and compete with WoW by offering gamers something much different, yet easily accessible, and having some creative innovations not seen in WoW.
Because of this reason, a new combat system called Monster vs. Player combat (aka MvP) or Player versus Monster Player (PvMP) has been first introduced in LotRO to give players much more excitement and enjoyment while playing the game. The idea of the game's unique Monster Play system is a a one in place that would enable players to get into the evil mindset and actually get our hands on some of Sauron's minions. The Monster Play system will allow them to choose a completely different kind of character to play in a totally different way so you will have your great chance to bring out your evil side.
This pretty much sums it up in regards to the basics. If you want to find out more, head over to Killer Guides and take a look at the LotRO guide they provide. It's a very compact and detailed reference that provides great leveling advice and several new gold-making strategies.
